10 ways to stay out of spam

The practices that genuinely move the needle on deliverability, in one checklist.

1. Set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC and verify alignment.
2. Make sure the sending IP has forward-confirmed reverse DNS (PTR).
3. Keep the IP off blacklists and monitor it.
4. Send multipart/alternative emails (HTML + text).
5. Balance text and images: avoid all-image emails.
6. Add one-click List-Unsubscribe for bulk sending.
7. Use a clear subject, not ALL CAPS and free of spam words.
8. Keep the message under ~102 KB to avoid Gmail clipping.
9. Warm up new IPs and domains gradually.
10. Clean your list: bounces and spam traps wreck reputation.
